With the IFA 2014 buzz spread across the tech world, Acer has managed to create headlines with the launch of three tablets namely, Iconia Tab 8 W based on Windows 8.1 and Iconia Tab 10 and Iconia Tab One 8 powered by Android.
Starting off with the Android offerings, firstly the Iconia Tab One 8 houses an 8 inch HD IPS display based on Zero Air Gap technology. It is powered by a quad-core Intel Atom TM Z3735G processor and is fueled by Android 4.4 KitKat OS. The tablet with anti fingerprint coating technology has dual cameras and a micro SD memory expansion card slot.
The tablet has a silky anti-slip finish that will provide a firm grip and a textured back cover for a tactile experience. The device comes in a slew of color options such as Jade Green, Sunshine Yellow, Vivid Orange, Sky Blue, Essential White, Midnight Black, Fragrant Pink, Violet Purple, Mia Blue and Garnet Red. It is price starting 149 Euros and would enter sales in EMEA regions from October.
On the other hand, the Acer Iconia Tab 10 comes with a larger 10.1 inch FHD display and employs a quad-core 1.3 GHz MediaTek processor. Running on Android 4.4 KitKat, the device has a 5 MP primary camera without flash and a 2 MP front-facer. The screen will be protected with Corning Gorilla Glass and it will come with the same features such as Zero Air Gap technology and anti finger print coating.
The 10 inch offering is claimed to arrive packed with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and micro HDMI and micro SD expansion card slot and use a 3,450 mAh battery to power it. The Acer Iconia Tab 10 will go on sale in U.S. and EMEA from September itself starting for a price of $199 onwards.
The Windows 8.1 based Iconia Tab 8 W, the tablet boasts of an 8 inch display that has a screen resolution of 1280×800 pixels and is stuffed with an Intel Atom quad-core processor. The company claims that the tablet uses a battery that should deliver a backup of 8 hours to the device. Also, the tablet will come bundled with a one year subscription to Microsoft Office 365 Personal that will provide access to Word, Excel, OneNote, PowerPoint and Outlook.
