Archos Launches Android and Windows Based Smartphones and Tablets

Archos has launched a slew of devices based on Android and Windows platforms.  The devices are Android based 50b Platinum and 45c Platinum smartphones and 101 Oxygen tablet and Windows Phone 8 based 40 Cesium smartphone and Windows 8.1 powered 80 Cesium tablet. The vendor will be showcasing these devices at the forthcoming IFA 2014 tech show in Berlin in early September.

Talking about the specifications, the Archos 50b Platinum flaunts a 5 inch qHD display and is powered by a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor. The device runs on Android 4.4.2 KitKat platform and includes an 8 MP rear camera with LED flash accompanied by a 2 MP front-facing selfie camera. On the connectivity front, the device has dual SIM card slots and 3G and features 512 MB of RAM along with 4 GB of expandable internal storage and a 1,900 mAh battery. Priced at $197, the device comes in three back color options and will hit the retail shelves in September.

The other Android phone is Archos 45c Platinum that is a smaller variant of the Archos 45 Platinum. It has a 4.55 inch FWVGA screen and is stuffed with a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor. This one is also based on Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system and it has a 5 MP camera at its back with LED flash and has a 2 MP front-facing camera. Other goodies onboard this dual SIM handset are 3G, 512 MB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage with expansion slot and a 1,700 mAh battery. The handset is priced at $160 and it would go on sale in September.

The Android based tablet 101 Oxygen slated to hit the stores in October for $329 employs a quad-core ARM Cortex A17 processor paired with 1.5 GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage.

Archos 40 Cesium is an affordable smartphone powered by Windows Phone 8.1 and it uses a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor. The device features a 4 inch display and it is priced reactively at $130. On the other hand, the 80 Cesium Windows 8.1 Tablet has an 8 inch IPS screen with 1280×800 pixel resolution. It is stuffed with a quad-core Intel processor and is priced at $210.
