The Chinese smartphone maker Gionee has launched its thinnest ever smartphone called Elife S5.1 in India today. The successor to the Elife S5.5 measures only 5.1 mm in thickness and was considered the world’s slimmest smartphone till the unveiling of Oppo R5.
Gionee has priced the Elife S5.1 for Rs 18,999 in the country and it has been announced that the smartphone will go on sale in the first week of December. Gionee has used magnesium alloy frame to build the smartphone and it features a screen to body ratio of 74 percent that is impressive.
When it comes to specifications, the Gionee Elife S5.1 is fitted with a 4.8 inch AMOLED display with HD resolution of 1280×720 pixels and it is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Under its hood, the smartphone incorporates a quad-core 1.7 GHz octa core MediaTek MT6592 processor that is aided by Mali 450 MP4 graphics unit and 1 GB of RAM to handle the graphic handling and multi-tasking capabilities.
Based on Android 4.4 KitKat operating system topped with Amigo 2.0 UI, the Gionee offering packs 16 GB of non-expandable internal storage capacity to meet the storage requirements of the users. On the imaging front, there is an 8 MP primary camera with LED flash for enhanced photography and a 5 MP front facer for video conferencing and clicking self portrait shots. Furthermore, the rear camera comes with features Charm Camera, Panorama, face detection, burst shot, gesture shot and others.
Other goodies onboard the Gionee Elife S5.1 include 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and USB OTG for connectivity on the go. The device gets powered by a 2,100 mAh battery that is believed to pump in a moderate backup of 10 hours to the slim smartphone.
