HTC One M8, the flagship smartphone was launched officially earlier this year with Android 4.4 KitKat operating system. Now, the Taiwan based tech titan has launched the Windows Phone variant of the handset with the same aspects. Primarily, the handset is the same all through except for the incorporation of a different operating system.
The HTC One M8 for Windows runs on the Windows Phone 8.1 platform and it is exclusive to the popular US carrier Verizon.
Talking of specifications, the HTC One M8 for Windows comes with a 5 inch FHD 1080p display in an aluminum clad unibody build. The front of the handset features BoomSound speakers for an enhanced bass output. It has all the favorite aspects that were a part of the Android model.
Under the hood, the smartphone includes a powerful Snapdragon 801 processor from Qualcomm’s stable and this is powered by a 2 GB RAM. There is 32 GB of internal storage capacity that can be expanded externally by means of a micro SD card.
The imaging hardware makes the HTC One M8 for Windows interesting with the identical aspects. It has a Duo Camera setup using a 4 MP UltraPixel camera and an additional camera for depth of field measurements and other special effects. Also, there is a front-facing 5 MP camera for making video calls and for clicking stunning selfies.
When it comes to connectivity, the handset belonging to Verizon comes with 4G LTE for high speed connectivity. It also has dual-band Wi-Fi with support to Miracast, NFC and Bluetooth 4.0 with apt-X. Software aspects include the new Cortana digital assistant and BlinkFeed news reader and social networking app.
Interestingly, the Microsoft Project My Screen helps the viewers to mirror the content displayed on the handset’s screen on the Windows PC and operate it right from there simply with the help of a USB connection.
The HTC One M8 for Windows is priced at $100, but this a promotional discount and it is claimed that it is subject to change. Buyers could also get the handset for $30 per month with the Verizon Edge program. Furthermore, with the HTC Advantage program the users of the device will receive a free service or replacement on the first crack of the screen. Also, they will get a free Dot View case to protect the display besides getting notifications.
