At the last week’s IFA 2014 tech show, Taiwan based tech firm HTC announced the launch of Desire 820 that carries the credit for being the first ever 64 bit Android smartphone. While the availability of the device is yet to debut, early rumors regarding the next device from HTC’s stable have started surfacing.
Well, the Twitter user @upleaks tips that HTC is in plans to announce a new phablet soon. The source claims that the device will be powered by an octa-core MediaTek processor under its hood. The tweet reads, “hardware spec is almost the same as Desire816 except Chipset and RAM.” However, the name of the device in the making remains unknown and the source has provided more details regarding the upcoming phablet claiming, “… almost the same as Desire816.”
With this information revealed by the leakster, it is clear that we can expect the device to feature a 5.5 inch HD display with an octa-core processor as mentioned above. It should be packing in at least 8 GB of internal storage space that can be expanded externally by another 128 GB using a micro SD card.
Similar to the Desire 816, the phablet might arrive with a 13 MP primary camera with FHD 1080p video recording and a 5 MP front-facer for video conferencing and selfies. Also, the unknown device is believed to pack connectivity features such as Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi and GPS and a 2,600 mAh battery.
Besides drawing its energy from an octa-core MediaTek chipset (presumably MT6595), the phablet is likely to arrive with 2 GB of RAM for efficient multi-tasking. Furthermore, the device should be fueled by Android 4.4 KitKat topped with Sense 6 UI and arrive with BoomSound frontal stereo speakers for enhanced audio output.
This is first time this new phablet similar to the Desire 816 has surfaced in the rumors. For now, there is no specific launch date of the device and we believe it to be a part of the future gossips as well shedding more light on what we can expect from it.
