Last week, the South Korean tech giant LG put up a teaser showing a flip style Android smartphone dubbed LG Wine Smart. Now, the vendor has made it official by launching this clamshell smartphone. With this launch, LG appears to be taking the consumers to the past without compromising smartphone experience.
The Wine Smart smartphone arrives with a 3.5 inch HVGA touch screen display with a resolution of 320×480 pixels. Under the hood, the device will be powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor that is supplemented by 1 GB of RAM for effective multi-tasking.
The LG Wine Smart based on Android 4.4 KitKat operating system out of the box. It has an 8 MP primary camera on board with LED flash for an enhanced low light performance and a VGA front facing selfie camera for clicking self portrait shots and video conferencing. There is 4 GB of internal storage capacity in the Wine Smart smartphone that is too low, but there is an expandable micro SD card slot supporting additional storage.
Other aspects of this flip style Android smartphone from LG include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS that are usual. The handset draws energy from a 1,700 mAh battery that should suffice in providing a moderate backup to the smartphone.
When it comes to other features, there is a Safe Keeper that will automatically send emergency notifications with significant details such as the phone’s location to the already set numbers when the phone is unused for a particular time period. Also, there is a tiny notification light on the exterior on of the smartphone to alert the users of notifications such as missed calls, text messages and more. Furthermore, the handset has a dedicated physical key to launch Kakao Talk messenger that will launch the instant messaging app.
LG has launched the Wine Smart smartphone in black and white color variants. Initially, the device will go on sale in the South Korean market starting from September 26. As of now, the firm has not revealed any details regarding pricing or global availability of the device.
