Last month, Oppo revealed disheartening news for those users of the Find 5 smartphone claiming that the handset will not be receiving the Android 4.4 KitKat update. Now, the firm has let out contradictory news that suggests that it will be rolling out the same update that was initially cancelled for the Find 5 along with the Oppo N1 smartphone.
The Chinese smartphone vendor has announced this information via a Google+ comment in reply to a user of Find 5 who raised an issue asking when the firm will rollout the Color OS 2.0 update to the device. The firm’s response was pretty convincing as it revealed that, “We have plans for a KitKat based Color OS 2.0 for both the Find 5 and N1. Please stay tuned for more news on this in the near future.” This is almost an official confirmation of the rollout of the Android KitKat update to the Oppo smartphone duo would definitely be great news for those users who were eagerly awaiting the update.
However, it has to be noted that the manufacturer has not clearly mentioned a specific time frame for the rollout of the update to these smartphones. This will keep the Oppo Find 5 and N1 users waiting for the KitKat update to arrive.
By saying an update, it means that Oppo will be releasing the update for the Color OS 2.0, the proprietary UI that is eventually the most recent Android skin. Furthermore, this skin is based on the Android 4.4 KitKat.
Besides leaving an official word regarding the Android KitKat update to these aforementioned smartphones, Oppo is also in the tech headlines for the highly anticipated launch of the N1 successor. The handset is alleged dubbed Oppo N3 and the vendor has been posting teasers speculating the launch of the upcoming device in October. Moreover, the yet to be announced N3 smartphone is claimed to be a camera centric device with a similar rotating swivel camera lens as the N1.
