Good news for all the Android users who have been waiting for the Whatsapp voice calling feature. It is now available to the android users and can be availed without any invite based system as it was some days ago. You can update the Whatsapp to latest version which is 2.12.19 available on Google PlayStore to get this feature. Whatsapp calling feature was announced by Whataspp’s ceo Jan Koun at Mobile Wold Congress this year. The voice calling feature first made way to selected android users and later to others based on an invite system . The invite system simply meant that Whatsapp calling will be activated only when a user with this feature already enabled calls on Whatsapp.

Android users across the world were waiting to get this feature enabled on their smartphones. It was also reported that some anti-social elements were taking advantage of the situation with some spam messaged doing the rounds. The messages contained  link to an unofficial website asking a user to invite 10 other users to get this feature activated. With the new update all android users can avail this calling feature. Whatsapp co-founder Brian Acton has also revealed that the new calling feature will soon be coming to the apple devices. This new app will offer stiff competition to other voice calling apps like Viber, Line, WeChat and Facebook Messenger among many others. Whatsapp is already the most popular instant messaging app with billions of downloads on Google Play Store and it will be interesting to know how this feature turns out for other VoIP based apps when released.
