China based smartphone vendor ZTE has announced the launch of the ZTE ZMAX smartphone and it is claimed to be a low cost alternative to the 5.5 inch iPhone 6 Plus. It is stated that initially this smartphone will be launched exclusively via the U.S. carrier T-Mobile from September 24.
The ZTE ZMAX can be purchased for a price of $252 or under the T-Mobile’s Equipment Installment Plan with no down payment and $10.50 per month for 24 months. It has be noted that ZTE has claimed that the smartphone will also be available via the MetroPCS later this year apart from being available via T-Mobile. As of now, the vendor has not revealed anything about the global availability of the device.
The ZTE smartphone fueled by Android 4.4 KitKat operating system that is claimed to be nearly similar to stock Android version. Detailing on the technical specifications, the smartphone is fitted with a large 5.7 inch HD display with a resolution of 1280×720 pixels. This screen is also topped with the Corning Gorilla Glass 3 scratch resistant coating.
Under the hood, the ZTE ZMAX smartphone comes powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor that is aided by an Adreno 305 graphics unit and a 2 GB of RAM to handle the graphic and multi-tasking requirements of the users. On the storage front, the ZTE offering bundles 16 GB of native storage capacity that can be further extended externally by another 32 GB using a micro SD card.
The camera set onboard the ZTE ZMAX includes an 8 MP rear camera coupled with auto focus and LED flash for an enhanced low light performance and a front-facing 1.6 MP selfie camera for video conferencing. The other aspects onboard the device include Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, 3G, GPS/A-GPS and 4G LTE for seamless connectivity even on the go. A 3,400 mAh battery operates under the hood of the ZTE ZMAX and it can pump in a decent backup of up to 14 hours of talk time and up to 360 hours of standby time respectively to the smartphone.
